Two Days in Cuba with Runhouse
February 16-17, 2019
My photography career changed dramatically when I left my full-time photojournalist job in 2013. Driving around solo in a car filled with fast food wrappers and a beat up camera bag making daily pictures for newspapers was replaced by days in an office sending out estimates, negotiating contracts and carefully planning out the logistics of commercial and higher ed photography jobs in Philadelphia and around the Northeast. That's not a complaint. The rewards of running my own business have been amazing, but nostalgia for the simplicity and excitement of daily photojournalism is a constant companion. So when my good friend Ryan, whose agency Runhouse does beautiful, creative work in marketing and producing events in the running & lifestyle industries, asked if I would join him and his team to document their quick trip to Cuba, I jumped at the chance to get back to the simple approach that first inspired my love of photography.
